Welcome to Baysail
BaySail is a private non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship of the Saginaw Bay and the Great Lakes through engaging shipboard experiences aboard our two schooners, the Appledore IV and Appledore V. Our programs include science education for K-12 school groups, overnight voyaging for youth and adults, public sails, charters, group tours, and port visits.

BaySail's Science Under Sail program is a half day hands-on science program for elementary through high school students. View the Shipboard Itinerary, the student journal and the watershed area of the schools that have participated to learn more about the program. BaySail also offers Educator Training Programs for school teachers.

Are you looking for an extended passage under sail? Check out Windward Bound, our youth adventure sailing program. New for 2008: Fresh Water Science Voyages for high school juniors. For adults we offer Windjammer Voyages, multi-day sailing vacations on beautiful northern Lake Huron.

Booking a charter on one of our ships gives you the opportunity to host a one–of-a-kind event out on the water under sail – full catering available. For more adventurous groups consider entering a team in our annual race series the Corporate Challenge Cup. We also offer team building sails and dockside receptions.

Operating from late April through October, the Appledore Schooners sail the waters of the Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron. We can accommodate groups of up to 48 with space enough for everyone to have a cushioned seat. We offer a wide variety of meal options, from a simple boxed lunch, to custom ordered gourmet menus with onboard chef's action stations.
